Attending Meetings – Using Flipchart Effectively

When you attend a meeting, you may need to use a flip chart to either present your ideas or record ideas from the meeting. Using a flip chart well is a skill you need to cultivate.

Flip charts are reliable and effective – as long as you use them well. Among the tips for using a flip chart effectively are:
– positioning
– type of pens
– preparation in advance
– use of pencil and sticky notes
– timing
– writing and speaking (don’t)

RECOMMENDED EXERCISE

1. Reflect on which techniques you already use and which ones you either don’t use, or do not use well. Identify the three strategies you think will have the biggest impact on your using a flip chart, if you apply them effectively. Note them down for step 2. (2 MC CPD Points)
