LESSON NOTES
Feedback Toolkit: 16 Tools for Better Communication in the Workplace https://geni.us/x8TGT4
Maurer starts with some general guidance, then offers:
• Tools for Giving Feedback
• Tools for Receiving Feedback

The framework Maurer uses is simple and effective:
1. Prepare
2. Present
3. Listen
4. Engage in dialogue
5. Plan for Action
6. Acknowledge
He then adds comments on:
• How you can vary the process and
• Things to pay attention to

Maurer’s SARA acronym is spot on:
• Surprise
• Anger
• Rationalization
• Acceptance

This book is relentlessly practical and a great workplace resource. My 1st edition (there’s now a 2nd edition) has under 100 pages, so there is absolutely no fluff – just great advice from Maurer.
