Providing for your team is an important part of leadership. To create teamwork, you need to serve your team, so they can get on with working together, as a team.
This is sometimes known as ‘servant leadership’.

A servant leader has two primary roles:
1. Providing for their team (Rations)
2. Defending their team (Raincoat)
The 5 main things you need to provide, to enhance teamwork, are:
1. The Physical Ability to work
Workspace, assets, equipment, tools
2. The things to work with
Materials, resources
3. The Knowledge to do the job
Information, data
4. The Skills to do their job
Skills development, training, coaching, mentoring, support for their personal growth
5. The Time to do their job
You need to protect their time, so they can use as much time as possible to get on with the team working you need. This may also mean making their lives easier by providing snacks, meals, etc.

1. What support does your team need? Think about the support your team needs – using the content of the video as a starting place. Develop your own checklist of support that will make great teamwork as easy as possible for your team. (2 MC CPD Points)
